  1. Thank you so much for making these podcasts again for second half of season five. It’s great to hear Mary’s insights into Sharon’s character and what’s going through Sharon’s head during the episodes. And it’s even better when Mary’s comments echo your own thoughts as they did for me a couple of times during this episode
    .
I don’t know if this question has been asked before but what does Mary think Sharon’s children make of her relationship with Andy. We saw when they first started dating that Rusty wasn’t too keen on the idea despite him pointing out to Sharon that they were already dating – but he seems to have come round now, even if he still calls Andy ‘Lieutenant’ at times. But what about Ricky and Emily? Do they think, “it’s about time she’s happy?” or are they concerned because Andy has a similar history to Jack? Or is it something else entirely. It would be great to hear Mary’s thoughts on the matter.

Can’t wait for next week’s episode & podcast!

    • Sharon I just love your character which means I would probably love you. I feel your genuineness through the screen. I am a Mom of two sons and I identify with many of the things you have done and still do with Rusty in shaping his thoughts and inabling him to think before acting and to show him all things are not always as they seem. Bravo and keep up the good work. BTW: Not sure how I am going to split you and Mariska H (SVU) – best cops on television!!

    • #wwsrd i’m hoping we get to see more of Stroh! #marymcdonnell would you like to play a episode full of angst? Maybe a kidnapping involved with him? Im sorry im a sucker for angst and action :) I love this podcast and this ep was so awesome! I loved they way you did your stunt yourself! I love ri see more of that. You were outstanding!!!! I just hold my breath! This is such a great start of 2017!

  2. Mary , you are really Special and I love you as Sharon Raydor . I am a BIG Shandy Shipper , and I’m concerned for the relationship with Andy’s recent health issues . Do you think his sobriety will be impacted ? How will Sharon handle his feelings of inadequacy, will she be able with her attention and focus being pulled in all directions , to make him realize that he is not a burden to her , and that she is committed to him til death do. us part inspite of the lack of formalness to their relationship .?

  3. Thank you for again doing these podcasts. They are really enjoyable as I love to hear your take on Major Crimes and your role as Sharon Raydor. Like so many others I am a big fan of the Shandy story line. One thing I have been contemplating is where this relationship is going/how it is going to grow. I know that the character is deeply religious, but it has been shown time and again that if she feels very strongly about something she will eventually do what she feels is right for her whether it goes against the catholic ideals or not. Things such as finally getting a divorce and living with Andy. So keeping that in mind with so many health scares that have surely brought close to mind that she could lose him do you think she will take that step of marriage? I just see that as part of her personality that it could be the catalyst to make her realize this is something she not only wants, but needs to do. I was just wondering what your thoughts on the matter were.

  4. Okay, so I re-watched this last episode and have another question. During Sharon’s interaction with Winnie Davis she is playing it cool. Which of course makes perfect sense, why would you let her see that she can get to you. As Winnie leaves Sharon shows a bit of her frustration. However, when she walks back in the room with the others she downplays it all acting like it is no big deal. Is this because as their boss she is trying to keep down the drama? As an actress you are so remarkably talented with your facial features and actions that it tells us so much more about what it is going on. So I was just curious about this decision to not let on that you were bothered at all by this confrontation.

  5. First, I just want to say how much I enjoy these podcasts. Thank you for doing this. It has been a delightful, and very insightful addition to the show. Kudos to all involved. Now then, for the question: When we first met Raydor she was a women’s coordinator for the LAPD. It was important enough that she was able to look beyond any issues she had with Brenda to endorse her for the Chief of Police position. While she may not have liked her, she certainly respected her enough to be able to do that. Now we have Deputy Chief Davis, another opposing force. I believe it was a piece that James did where he mentioned that Davis was a women’s coordinator for the LAPD. Why do you think we are seeing these two strong, intelligent women as opposing forces rather than complementary? Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to show women working together at that level? Even the confrontation between Davis and Raydor got a little personal with the comments about her “boyfriend waiting”. It was quite nearly catty in nature. Imagine instead what they could accomplish if they both “Lean In”. What is Mary’s take on this?

  6. First of all thank you very much to you and Mary McDonnell for taking the time to do these very interesting podcasts

    My questions are:

What kind of music does Sharon like to listen to?
In the last episode Gus asks Rusty to move in with him; how does Sharon feels about that and about having an empty nest again?

  7. A question for an upcoming #WWSRD:
The Sharon/Rusty relationship has been one of my favorite things about Major Crimes since the beginning of the show. They have such an open & honest relationship, and they are so comfortable talking to each other about very intimate things; far more than you often see of mothers & sons, particularly when the son is at this age. There is no question that Sharon is very close with all of her children, but do you think everything is as open & honest with Ricky & Emily, or is it different with Rusty because of the way their relationship began?
