508- gold lrMore than halfway through it’s summer season, Major Crimes continues to dominate in the ratings, consistently outperforming the rest of cable’s summer slate.

Up against stiff competition from the summer Olympics, last night’s superhero-themed episode of Major Crimes brought in 3.2 million total viewers. This was down 11% over the last new episode two weeks ago, but consistent with the across-the-board drops on both cable and broadcast due to competition from the Olympics broadcast. In key demographics, the episode remained steady at 0.4 million viewers 18-49.

Against the rest of TNT’s slate, Major Crimes continues to be a top performer, beating out the most recent episodes of The Last Ship (2.0/0.5), Murder in the First (1.1/0.2), and the season finale of Animal Kingdom (1.51/0.5).

In time-delayed ratings, Major Crimes has continued it’s dominance at the top of the cable ratings, cinching the top spots for the last two episodes.

In live+3 day ratings, episode 506 grew a massive 69%, topping out at 6.16 million viewers, and becoming the most watched scripted cable offering of the week in L3. Rizzoli & Isles claimed the number two spot with a gain of 45%. Even greater gains were seen in the key demos, where the episode rose 80% to 0.9 million viewers 18-49.

Meanwhile episode 507 likewise added almost 60% to its live+same day numbers, finishing at 5.8 million viewers, and winning the week for greatest gains in Live + 3 day ratings, and coming in just under Rizzoli & Isles for most total viewers in L3. The episode outperformed over the prior week, doubling its number in viewers 18-49 to 0.8 million viewers.
