Ratings – Major Crimes Rises, Wins Night as Most-Watched Cable Offering

With just four episodes left in its summer season, Major Crimes continues to dominate in the ratings this summer. Last night’s episode brought in 4.2 million total viewers, a 5% increase in viewers over the prior week, and won the night as the most watched scripted cable program. Even bigger gains were seen in the key demographics, which rose 20% over last week to 0.6 million viewers 18-49.

Last week’s episode continued to hold up throughout the week, coming in as the second-most watched scripted cable offering of the week, only narrowly missing the top spot to fellow TNT series Rizzoli and Isles. Major Crimes continues to outperform the rest of TNT’s summer slate, including the most recent episodes of Proof (2.0/0.4), The Last Ship (2.99/ 0.7), Falling Skies (1.878/0.4), and fellow Monday-night series Murder in the First, which lost over 50% of the Major Crimes lead-in audience in both total viewers and 18-49 demo.

In time-delayed ratings, Major Crimes continues its stellar performance this summer. In Live + 7 episode 403 brought almost doubled its numbers in both total viewers and key demographics, rising to 6.23 million and 1.0 million, respectively. The episode is projected to rise to over 8.5 million viewers across all platforms. Meanwhile episode 404 saw a 35% increase in viewership in Live + 3 to 6.231 million viewers, the second biggest viewership increase of the week, and a 44% rise in the 18-49 demographic to 1.0 million viewers.

Overall for the 2nd quarter of the year Major Crimes is in the Top Two Original Scripted Series in total viewers, and the Top Ten Original Scripted Series in viewers 18-49, and is reaching an average of 10.1 million viewers per episode this season across all platforms.
