Ratings: Major Crimes Steady in Season Finale; Wins Night as Most Watched Cable Show

The season finale of Major Crimes brought with it Patrice and Provenza’s long-awaited nuptials, and a strong finish in the ratings.

3.4 million viewers turned in for the resolution to the Hindsight five-episode winter arc, and it won the night as the most watched scripted show for the 5th consecutive week. In key demographics, the episode remained steady with its winter high, with 0.5 million viewers 18-49.

Last week’s episode continued to perform strongly, ending the week as the second most-watched scripted series of the week, behind only The Walking Dead.

Episode 403 Major Crimes continued to see strong growth in time-delayed ratings, gaining 52% in Live + 3 day to a total of 4.5 million viewers. Even greater increases were seen in the key demographics, which rose a 75% to 0.7 million viewers 18-49.

Ratings: Major Crimes Hits New Winter High; Wins Night

422-hobbs raydor lrLast night’s episode of Major Crimes brought with it some resolutions in the ongoing winter story arc, and the best ratings thus far of the winter season.

The penultimate episode of season four brought in 3.5 million total viewers, setting a new winter high. The almost 20% increase over last weeks ratings helped the episode win the night as the most watched scripted cable series of the night for the fourth consecutive week. In key demos the episode saw even greater gains, growing 25% over the prior week to 0.5 million viewers 18-49.

Last weeks episode continued to perform strongly throughout the week, coming in as the second most watched cable series of the week, behind only The Walking Dead. Major Crimes also greatly outperformed fellow TNT series Rizzoli and Isles by more than 500k viewers.

In time-delayed ratings, episode 402 of the winter arc continued to hold its own, adding over 1.5 million viewers in Live + 3 day viewership for a total of 4.7 million viewers. Strong gains were also seen in the key demos, where the episode gained 60% to 0.8 million viewers 18-49 years old.

 

 

 

Ratings: Major Crimes Wins Night; Winter Premiere Doubles Viewership in L+3

421- thumbMajor Crimes continued its strong winter performance in the ratings last night, winning the night as the most watched scripted cable program for the third consecutive week. Despite across-the-board drops in both cable and broadcast viewership for Monday night, last nights third outing of the winter season retained much of its audience, coming in with 2.95 million viewers, down slightly from 3.2 million from the previous week. In key demos, the episode remained steady with the winter premiere numbers, with 0.4 million viewers 18-49.

Last week’s winter season high held its own throughout the week, ending as the 2nd most watched scripted cable program of the week, behind only perennial powerhouse The Walking Dead, and outperforming the #3 show, The People Vs. OJ Simpson, by more than 10%. The episode also bested fellow TNT series Rizzoli & Isles by almost 1 million viewers.

In Live + 3 Day ratings, the winter premiere of Major Crimes saw huge gains, rising almost 50% in total viewership to 4.6 million viewers. Even stronger gains were seen in key demos, which fully doubled it’s viewers from 0.4 million viewers to 0.8 million viewers 18-49 in Live + 3 day numbers.

 

Ratings: Major Crimes Grows Sharply in Week 2 of Winter Episode Arc

420 - raydor cropped Major Crimes continued to perform strongly in the ratings in its sophomore winter outing. “Hindsight, Pt. 2″ rose 3% over last weeks winter premiere to 3.2 million total  viewers, and easily won as the most watched scripted cable program. Overall, the episode was in the Top Ten most watched programs for last night, across all of broadcast and cable.

In the key demos, the episode saw even greater gains, rising a whopping 25% to 0.5 million viewers 18-49.

Last week’s winter premiere of Major Crimes finished as the 3rd most watched cable program of last week, behind only perpetual front runner The Walking Dead and FX’s The People Vs OJ Simpson. Time delayed ratings weren’t immediately available, but the episode is expected to continue to perform strongly once DVR and time delayed numbers are released.

419- fritz provenza raydorDespite stiff competition from February sweeps and the Grammy Awards, Major Crimes made its winter debut with a bang. “Hindsight, Pt. 1″ brought in 3.1 million total viewers, which both won the night as the most watched scripted cable series, but was also strong enough  to push it into 5th place overall for the night, amongst all network and cable programs.

On a night where most shows saw sharp drops due to the Grammy Awards, the first episode of Major Crimes five episode winter serialized arc saw an increase of over 800,000 viewers from its fall premiere numbers. In key demos Major Crimes remained steady with its fall average, bringing in 0.4 million viewers 18-49 years old.

Major Crimes continues its winter season run next Monday at 9pm/8c on TNT.

MAJOR CRIMES (TNT)Major Crimes finished 2015 on a high note, with 3.70 million viewers tuning in for last night’s heart-stopping fall finale. That turn out bests the previous ratings high set several weeks ago for this current batch of episodes, and is a whopping 23% increase in viewers over last weeks episode. It easily won the night as the most watched scripted cable series for the 7th consecutive week.

The episode saw even greater gains in the key demographics, rising 25% over last weeks episode to 0.5 million viewers 18-49.

Despite stiff competition from sports, the primary debates and holiday specials, last week’s episode of Major Crimes continued to outperform all other scripted programming, coming in as the Most Watched Scripted Cable Series of the Week for the third consecutive week. Additionally, Major Crimes was the only scripted series to earn a spot on the list of the Top 25 most watched shows on all of cable for last week.

As we previously reported, last week TNT officially renewed Major Crimes for an initial 13 episodes for Season 5. In their press release, TNT noted that in its current season, Major Crimes is reaching an average of 10 million viewers per episode across all platforms, almost double the total viewership of The Librarians and Murder in the First, whose renewals were also announced. TNT also announced last week that the underperforming Legends and Agent X have both been cancelled.

Major Crimes will return with the last five episodes of Season Four on February 15th, 2016.

Ratings: Major Crimes Continues Winning Streak as Most Watched Cable Show of the Night and Week

Major Crimes continued its strong winter showing last night, coming in as the Most Watched Scripted Cable Show of the night for the 6th week in a row. The intense penultimate episode of this winter run brought in 3.0 million viewers, down slightly from last weeks episode. Despite this drop, Major Crimes is still easily holding onto the top spot as TNT’s most watched show this winter, with almost 800,000 more total viewers than runner up The Librarians. In key demographics the episode was steady with last week, bringing in 0.4 million viewers 18-49.

Last week’s episode continued to perform well in time delayed ratings, coming in as the Most Watched Scripted Cable Series of the Week for the second straight week. Major Crimes was also the only scripted series to make the list of the Top 25 most-watched shows on all of cable for last week, which was otherwise dominated by sports and reality TV.

Meanwhile, episode 415 has continued to score big in time delayed ratings, with 5.44 million total viewers tuning in in Live + 3 day viewing, a massive 48% rise over the Live + Same Day. Even bigger gains were seen in the key demographics, where the episode rose 68% to 0.84 million viewers 18-49.

The winter finale of Major Crimes will air next week, and will return after the holidays for the final five episodes of the season beginning on February 15th, 2016.

416- buzz kendall provenza sanchez tao lrMajor Crimes continued its winning ways in the ratings for its holiday run. Last night’s episode brought in 3.29 million viewers, down slightly from last weeks winter season high, but still easily won the night as the most watched scripted cable series.

Episode 414 continued to perform strongly in time delayed ratings, growing to 4.05 million total viewers and 0.7 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic in Live + 3 (a massive 75% increase for the demographic over the Live numbers). The continued strong performance of the episode also helped it to score the top spot as the Most Watched Scripted Cable Show of the Week for the first time this winter season.

The slight dip in ratings this week was felt across the board on TNT’s offerings, though Major Crimes continues to be the most watched TNT original of the winter season, besting runner up The Librarians by more than 1.2 million viewers. The rest of TNT’s roster has continued to struggle to find an audience this season, with new series Agent X dropping to 0.99 million viewers and 0.2 million (18-49), and Major Crimes lead-out Legends dropping to a new low at 0.67 million viewers and 0.1 (18-49).

Major Crimes will air two more new episodes in 2015, then take a break, and return with the final five episodes of Season 4 on February 15, 2016.
