TNT‘s hit drama Major Crimes will welcome back several recurring guest stars when the show returns for its third season this summer, including Screen Actors Guild Award® nominee Jon Tenney (The Closer, Scandal), Golden Globe® and Emmy® winner Tom Berenger (Platoon, Hatfields & McCoys), Screen Actors Guild Award® nominee Bill Brochtrup (NYPD Blue, Shameless), and Emmy® nominee and Image Award winner Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Cosby Show, Malcolm & Eddie). The roster for season three also includes recurring guest stars Ransford Doherty (The Closer, Caribe Road) and Kathe Mazur (The Closer, Alias); Andrew Daly (Silicon Valley), reprising a role he played on The Closer, and Azita Ghanizada (Alphas, X’s & O’s). Major Crimes, which is slated to kick off its third season on Monday, June 9, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), is headed by Oscar® and Emmy® nominee Mary McDonnell, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Phillip P. Keene, Kearran Giovanni, Graham Patrick Martin, Jonathan Del Arco with Robert Gossett.

Major Crimes explores how the American justice system approaches the art of the deals as law enforcement officers and prosecutors work together to score a conviction. In the series, McDonnell stars as Los Angeles Police Captain Sharon Raydor, who heads up a special squad within the LAPD that deals with high-profile or particularly sensitive crimes. Her team of investigators includes G.W. Bailey as Lieutenant Provenza, Tony Denison as Lieutenant Andy Flynn, Michael Paul Chan as Lieutenant Mike Tao, Raymond Cruz as Detective Julio Sanchez, Kearran Giovanni as Detective Amy Sykes and Phillip P. Keene as tech expert Buzz Watson. Robert Gossett plays Assistant Chief Russell Taylor, Raydor’s boss, while Jonathan Del Arco plays Dr. Morales, the medical examiner. And Graham Patrick Martin is Rusty Beck, a formerly homeless teen who has been taken in by Raydor.

This summer on Major Crimes, Jon Tenney will return as Agent Fritz Howard, who serves as the main liaison between the LAPD and the FBI. He also happens to be the husband of the former head of the squad, Brenda Leigh Johnson. Tom Berenger will be back as Jack Raydor, Capt. Raydor’s estranged but endearing husband who doesn’t always play by the rules. Bill Brochtrup will return as Dr. Joe Bowman, Rusty’s therapist who used chess as a way to get through to his client. And Malcolm-Jamal Warner will be back as Lt. Chuck Cooper, an undercover officer who helped hunt down a killer who targeted Rusty.

Ransford Doherty will return this season as Coroner’s Investigator Kendall, who often handles the initial crime-scene examinations of victims in the squad’s cases. And Kathe Mazur will be back as DDA Andrea Hobbs, the no-nonsense prosecutor who handles the legal side of the squad’s cases. Also this summer, Andrew Daly will return as Richard “Dick” Tracy, the eager wannabe detective he originally played in the fifth season of The Closer. And Azita Ghanizada will play Angela Soames, who works for a potentially shady cryogenic facility.

Cases the squad will be called upon to investigate in season three of Major Crimes include the disappearance of two kids and their father, the death of the defendant in a rape trial and a complex case involving arranged marriages and diplomatic immunity. In addition, one of Sanchez’s old cases will resurface when it turns out a man he put away for manslaughter might be innocent. And Provenza and Flynn will be drawn to a ritzy estate to investigate the murder of a dog, but they’re going to have to solve the case with unwanted help from an amateur sleuth they’ve encountered before. On the home front, Sharon Raydor will try to help Rusty put his turbulent past behind him, a goal made far more difficult when a member of the young man’s biological family returns, threatening Rusty’s hard-won stability.

Via TNT Press Release:

TNT’s Hit Drama Series Major Crimes Returns Monday, November 25
With Complex Cases and One of Television’s Best Ensemble Casts

blue cast promoTNT’s hit drama series Major Crimes, which fired up summer as one of basic cable’s Top 10 dramas, returns this winter with eight powerful new episodes. Oscar® and Emmy® nominee Mary McDonnell stars as Los Angeles Police Captain Sharon Raydor, who heads up a special squad within the LAPD that deals with high-profile or particularly sensitive crimes. The series is set to begin its winter run Monday, Nov. 25, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), with the season finale set for January 13.

Major Crimes explores how the American justice system approaches the art of the deals as law enforcement officers and prosecutors work together to score a conviction. In the series, McDonnell is joined by an extraordinary ensemble cast that includes G.W. Bailey as Lieutenant Provenza, Tony Denison as Lieutenant Andy Flynn, Michael Paul Chan as Lieutenant Mike Tao, Raymond Cruz as Detective Julio Sanchez, Kearran Giovanni as Detective Amy Sykes, Phillip P. Keene as tech expert Buzz Watson, Robert Gossett as Assistant Chief Russell Taylor, Nadine Velazquez as Deputy District Attorney Emma Rios and Jonathan Del Arco as Dr. Morales. Graham Patrick Martin also stars as Rusty Beck, a homeless teen and material witness taken in by Captain Raydor.

This past summer on Major Crimes, Raydor and the detectives in the squad finally settled into a good working relationship. But they are now under the watchful eye of Deputy District Attorney Emma Rios, who has been assigned to shadow investigations and work with Raydor’s team to build successful cases and secure plea deals whenever possible.

Throughout the summer, Rusty struggled to come to terms with his past and his own emotional turmoil. His close friendship with a female classmate showed signs of bringing his life some sense of normality, but Rusty pushed her away for reasons he refuses to explain. And Rusty’s distrust of DDA Rios will continue to grow as her actions make him begin to question her intentions.

In the winter episodes of Major Crimes, the squad will be called upon to investigate the deaths of two brothers who may have died as a result of a bad batch of drugs, track down a recently released prisoner whose therapist has concerns he could be dangerous and follow a money trail full of surprises when a body turns up at a posh country club. The winter episodes will also reveal the mysterious person sending threatening letters to Rusty and Raydor, and Rusty will finally testify against Phillip Stroh in a preliminary hearing. Jon Tenney – who played FBI Agent Fritz Howard on The Closer and the first season of Major Crimes – returns to direct the Dec. 16 episode and will guest star in two episodes.
