Major Crimes Scores Top Ten Placing of Most Watched Shows in America


mctop10 copyOn the heels of several weeks of huge ratings for the winter season, Major Crimes got to add one more big feather to its cap for 2013- a placing on the Top Ten List of Most Watched Shows in America!

Released by TV Guide, the list encompasses all network or cable shows, and has episode 216 “Risk Assessment” sharing the number 10 spot! This marks the first time Major Crimes has cracked the top ten list, and it was also the only cable show to make the cut!

Ratings: Major Crimes Wins Night; Reigns as Most Watched Basic Cable Show For Third Consecutive Week

218-rusty binocularsThe penultimate episode of Major Crimes’ second season held its own in the ratings despite fierce competition from football and the return of network programming, with 4.950 million Live + Same Day viewers tuning in to find out Rusty’s fate. In the 18-49 demographic, the show retained its growth from last week, staying at a steady 0.8. The episode was the second-highest rated outing of the winter season, and won the night as the most watched basic cable scripted series.

Last weeks episode of Major Crimes continued its ratings dominance, coming in as basic cable’s #1 original series for the third consecutive week. It also scored big in time-delayed numbers with 7.2 million viewers in Live + 3 Day Ratings, a 20% increase over the prior week. The episode performed even better in the coveted advertiser demographics, drawing 2.2 million adults 25-54 in Live + 3 Day, and 1.5 million adults 18-49, an increase from the prior week of over 25% and 20%, respectively.

217-buzz flynn tao lrMajor Crimes rang out 2013 on a major highsmashing its previous winter ratings record. “Year-End Blowout” added almost a million viewers to last week’s season high to come in at 5.217 million in Live + Same Day viewers- an increase of more than 16% over the previous week. Last week’s episode of Major Crimes hit a new winter high with 5.9 million viewers in Live + 3 day ratings, increasing over the previous weeks outing by a whopping 9%, and winning the week as basic cable’s #1 original series.  In the key demographics the numbers remained steady, drawing 1.8 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49 in Live + 3 day. MAJOR CRIMESThe first-ever Christmas outing for Major Crimes brought good cheer and great ratings, with episode 215 bringing in 4.371 million viewers in Live + Same Day, a new series high for this winter season. Last weeks episode also continued the positive trend, growing to 5.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, and showed huge increases in the coveted advertiser demographics, with 1.8 million adults 25-54 (a 9% increase over the prior week) and 1.4 million adults 18-49 (a whopping 16% increase over the previous). Despite strong competition from the last week of November sweeps, the winter premiere of Major Crimes rose in time-delayed ratings, growing to 5.1 million viewers Live + 3. Ratings Notes: Major Crimes Scores Big on Two Continents!


2.02- raydor rusty provenzaThough there was no new episode this week, that didn’t keep Major Crimes from continuing to dominate in the ratings on two continents!

-Here in the U.S., last week’s summer finale of Major Crimes came in as one of basic cable’s Top 2 Scripted Programs for the week among total viewers, and in the Top 3 Dramas for the week with adults 25-54. In Live + 3 ratings, last weeks episode has risen to 6.7 million viewers, with 2.1 million adults 25-54, and 1.5 million adults 18-49, a 2% growth for both key demos. (source: TVbytheNumbers)

-In Live + 7 day ratings, episode 208 stayed steady with the increases seen for the previous week, topping out at 7.3 million total viewers and 2.1 million adults 25-54.

- Meanwhile in the United Kingdom, episode 202 of Major Crimes topped its own UK season 2 premiere numbers by 5%. That ranks as a new series high for Major Crimes on Universal Channel UK. Of the new high, TVWise noted that “ratings for Major Crimes hold steady, the series will be on track to outstrip Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to become Universal’s highest rated series.” (Source: TVWise)

Major Crimes has already been renewed for season 3, and season 2 will return to TNT on Monday, November 25th at 9pm/8c.

Ratings Post: Summer Finale Wins Night, Ranks Top 2 Scripted Program of the Week


MAJOR CRIMES- Major Crimes finished its season on top, with Monday night’s summer finale coming in with 5.291 million live viewers and demo of 0.8 18-49, making it the highest rated scripted cable offering of the night for the 11th consecutive week!

- Last weeks episode of Major Crimes was the second most watched scripted cable program of the week, and has continued to grow in time delayed ratings with 6.9 million viewers in Live + 3 day ratings, and 2.0 million adults 25-54 (an increase of 6% over the prior week) and 1.5 million adults 18-49 (up 1% over the prior week).

- Episode 208 of Major Crimes saw big gains in Live + 7 day ratings, finishing with 7.0 million total viewers, and 2.2 million adults 25-54.

We’ll continue to report time delayed ratings as they are released over the next few weeks.
